CoSN May 2026 Updates

CoSN Resource: U.S. State of EdTech 2026 Report

In early May 2026, CoSN released its U.S. State of EdTech 2026 Report. CoSN produced this report in partnership with AASA, The School Superintendents Association, CDW Education, Lightspeed Systems, MCH Strategic Data and Sogolytics. The 2026 report is based on the survey that was shared with over 600 district technology leaders. Together their responses illustrate the current key priorities and the challenges that school leaders face when it comes to successfully leading education technology.

It is because education technology plays an ever-increasing and vital role in multiple school operations that CoSN and the collaborating partners are pleased to share the findings that are defined in the 2026 report, along with access to resources to support multiple educational technology initiatives. The goal is to assist school leaders as they develop and implement technology in their school systems to meet the current and future needs of students, educators and their communities.

Key finding topics that are defined in the opening pages of the U.S. State of EdTech 2026 Report include:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Procurement Processes
  • Teaching and Learning

In addition to commentary regarding the key findings listed above, the report provides readers with access to shared thinking about digital connectivity, strategic initiatives, the profile of ed tech leaders, staffing and devices.

The freely accessible report concludes with an extensive listing of CoSN online resources that can be used to address the issues covered throughout the U.S. State of EdTech 2026 Report.
